SOCIAL NETWORKS AS A MEANS OF LEARNING AND INTERACTION BETWEEN EDUCATIONAL PROCESS PARTICIPANTS

The article examines the possibilities of using social networks in the educational process. It is noted that, despite their persistent perception primarily as an entertainment environment, social networks have considerable potential in the field of teaching and upbringing, especially under conditions of distance interaction. The main functions of social networks are characterized: user identification, group creation, presence indication, communication, relationship building, expression of reputational characteristics, and information exchange. It is shown that these functions can be used by teachers for prompt interaction with students, organization of group work, transmission of educational materials, prevention of knowledge gaps, and maintenance of contact with parents. The advantages of social networks in learning activities are highlighted, including user-friendly interfaces, possibilities for collaborative work, maintenance of electronic records, portfolio creation, and expansion of communication opportunities for participants in the educational process. It is concluded that the integration of social networks into educational and upbringing activities contributes to information exchange, increases cognitive motivation, supports the development of students’ creative abilities, and facilitates the achievement of the main educational goals.
