Cookie Policy
This Policy explains which cookies, similar technologies, and related technical data are processed by the website of the scientific journal “Professionalitet” when you visit it. The Policy is prepared in accordance with Federal Law No. 152-FZ of 27 July 2006 “On Personal Data” of the Russian Federation.
1. In short
- Cookies required to run the site are always set: without them you cannot sign in or submit a manuscript.
- The Yandex.Metrica analytics counter is loaded only after you press “Accept” in the cookie banner. If you press “Decline” or have not made a choice yet, the counter is not loaded and no data is sent to Yandex.
- Declining analytics does not limit the site in any way.
- You can withdraw consent at any time via the “Cookie settings” link in the footer of any page.
2. Cookies and storage used
2.1. Strictly necessary (always set)
- OJSSID — the OJS platform session cookie: keeps you signed in and supports the submission form and other authenticated actions. Deleted when the session ends; with “remember me” it lasts up to 30 days.
- Form protection token (CSRF) — protects submitted forms against request forgery. Lifetime: the session.
- Browser local storage (localStorage): the
scholaria-themekey stores the chosen theme (light/dark), andscholaria-cookie-consentstores your answer to the cookie banner (“accepted” or “declined”). This data stays in the browser and is never sent to the server. Retained until you clear site data in your browser. - The chosen interface language (ru/en) is stored by the OJS platform within the user session.
2.2. Protection against automated requests (pages with forms)
The sign-in, registration, and password-recovery pages use Yandex SmartCaptcha (Yandex LLC, Russian Federation). It loads a script from smartcaptcha.yandexcloud.net, may store technical identifiers needed to verify that a request comes from a human, and processes the IP address and browser parameters. This check is strictly necessary and does not depend on analytics consent: without it forms cannot be submitted. Purpose: protection against password guessing and bulk automated registration.
2.3. Analytics (only with your consent)
Pressing “Accept” loads the Yandex.Metrica counter No. 109691676 (Yandex LLC, Russian Federation). It loads a script from mc.yandex.ru and sets its own cookies, including _ym_uid (de-identified browser identifier, up to 1 year), _ym_d (date of first visit, up to 1 year), _ym_isad (ad-blocker indicator, up to 2 days), _ym_hostIndex, and other technical session cookies. Data processed: de-identified browser identifier, IP address, User-Agent, URLs of the pages viewed, referrer, screen resolution, click data (click map), and outbound link clicks.
Counter configuration on this site: click map, link tracking, and accurate bounce rate are enabled; Webvisor (session recording) is disabled; e-commerce tracking is not used — the journal is free of charge and no payments are accepted on the site.
Service terms: Yandex.Metrica Terms of Use. Processing on the Yandex side: Yandex Privacy Policy.
2.4. What this site does not do
No advertising or targeting cookies, no profiling, no automated decision-making producing legal effects, and no transfer of data to advertising networks.
3. Data recorded on the server
The web-server access logs (nginx) automatically record the IP address, browser User-Agent, date, time, and the URL of the requested page — standard system-administration practice needed to keep the site operational and secure. Server logs are retained for no more than 30 days. The OJS platform additionally keeps de-identified statistics of article views and downloads.
When you register or submit a manuscript, you voluntarily provide identifying information (name, e-mail, affiliation, etc.). Processing of that information is governed by the separate consent obtained at registration.
4. Purposes
- operating the site and the user account;
- handling manuscript submissions and interaction with authors and reviewers;
- protection against automated attacks and abuse;
- de-identified traffic statistics — only where you have given consent.
5. Legal bases
- Necessary cookies, form protection, server logs — Art. 6 § 1 (5) of Federal Law No. 152-FZ: processing is necessary for the performance of an agreement to which the data subject is a party (the public offer for the use of the journal’s services), and to keep the site secure.
- Analytics cookies and transfer of data to Yandex.Metrica — Art. 6 § 1 (1) of Federal Law No. 152-FZ: your consent, expressed by pressing “Accept” in the cookie banner.
6. Third parties
Necessary and preference data are stored solely in the user’s browser and are not shared. Where you consent to analytics, the data listed in section 2.3 is transferred to Yandex LLC acting on the editorial team’s instructions; the service’s servers are located in the Russian Federation. When the SmartCaptcha check runs, the data listed in section 2.2 is transferred to Yandex LLC. No data is shared with any other third party except where directly required by Russian law.
7. Retention
- session cookies — until the session ends (up to 30 days with “remember me”);
- localStorage entries (theme, cookie-banner answer) — until you clear site data in your browser;
- Yandex.Metrica cookies — up to 1 year from the moment they are set (see section 2.3);
- server logs — no more than 30 days.
8. Withdrawing consent and controlling cookies
- To withdraw analytics consent: click “Cookie settings” in the footer of any page and choose “Decline”. The counter will no longer load, and the cookies it set will be deleted.
- To give consent later: use the same “Cookie settings” link → “Accept”.
- In your browser: you may disable or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time. Disabling necessary cookies limits functionality — for example, it prevents you from signing in.
- Via Yandex: you can opt out of all Metrica counters using the Yandex.Metrica opt-out blocker.
To request access to, correction of, blocking of, or deletion of personal data, please contact the editorial team via the Contact page.
9. Changes to this Policy
The editorial team may update this Policy. The current version is always available at this address. Material changes affecting the categories of data processed are accompanied by the cookie banner being shown again.
