Peer Review

The following materials are sent to the editorial office: one carefully proofread copy of the article signed by the author (co-authors), information about the author(s), an abstract in Russian and English, keywords in Russian and English, and electronic versions of all documents.

An article is accepted for review only if it meets the requirements for author manuscripts posted on the journal's website in the "Requirements" section and in current issues of the publication.

Registration

The executive secretary registers the article, recording the date of submission, the title, and the full name and place of work of the author(s). The article is assigned an individual registration number, and the information is entered into the database. The author receives notification of receipt within 7 days.

Peer Review

Submitted articles undergo single-blind peer review. The executive secretary checks whether the article matches the journal's scope and formatting requirements, then sends it to a reviewer holding a doctoral or candidate degree in a field closely related to the article's topic. The reviewer must be a recognized specialist in the subject and have publications on it within the past three years. Reviewers may be members of the editorial board or external experts.

The reviewer examines the article within two weeks of receiving it and sends the editorial office either a reasoned refusal to review or a full review. The review addresses the following points:

– whether the article's content matches its stated topic;

– whether the article reflects current developments in scholarly and theoretical thought;

– whether the material is accessible to the target audience in terms of language, style, and structure;

– whether publication is warranted given previously published literature on the subject;

– the article's strengths and weaknesses, along with a list of necessary corrections and additions;

– a conclusion on whether the article can be published: "recommended," "recommended subject to correction of the noted shortcomings," or "not recommended" for publication in the journal Professionalitet.

Publication Decision

Based on the review, a decision is made to publish the article or reject it. If an article needs revision, the author receives specific recommendations. If publication is refused, the reasons are stated. An article revised in line with the reviewer's comments is considered again through the standard process, and the date the revised version was received is recorded in the registration log.

An article not recommended for publication is not accepted for a second review. The text of a negative review is sent to the author by email, fax, or regular mail. A copy of a positive review is also sent to the author. A positive review alone does not guarantee publication — the final decision rests with the editor-in-chief. Once that decision is made, the executive secretary notifies the author and provides the publication timeline.

Storage of Reviews

Original reviews are kept at the editorial office of Professionalitet for five years. Copies of reviews are sent to the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation upon request.
