CHANGES IN THE APPROACH TO TRAINING STUDENTS FOR THE DEMONSTRATION EXAMINATION IN THE ELECTRONICS COMPETENCE IN 2022
Abstract
The article examines approaches to preparing students of secondary vocational education for the demonstration exam in the competence “Electronics” in accordance with WorldSkills Russia standards. Based on the results of the 2021 demonstration exam in the specialty 11.02.02 “Maintenance and Repair of Radio Electronic Equipment,” systemic difficulties were identified in students’ mastery of WSSS No. 5 “Fault Finding, Repair and Measurement,” which is of key importance for professional training in this field. In order to improve the quality of preparation, it was decided to gradually integrate elements of the demonstration exam into the training practice within the professional module PM.03 “Diagnostics and Repair of Various Types of Radio Electronic Equipment” with a total workload of 72 hours. The practice syllabus was updated by including digital circuits previously used in championships and demonstration exams, simulating fault-finding situations under unreliable equipment conditions, and developing a universal diagnostic algorithm at the level of components and functional units. Particular attention was paid to the development of students’ skills in assembly, repair, device adjustment, and the proper preparation of reporting documentation in accordance with the methodological recommendations of the competence “Electronics.” The final assignment, designed as a full Fault-Finding module with a three-hour time limit and a peer assessment procedure based on criteria close to WorldSkills standards, enabled 74% of students from two groups, with a total of 38 participants, to complete the task successfully. The results obtained make it possible to regard the practice-oriented approach as an effective means of developing professional competencies demanded by employers.
