USING ELECTRONIC TEXTBOOKS IN THE EDUCATIONAL PROCESS

Abstract

The article examines the role of electronic textbooks in the modern educational process of secondary vocational education institutions. It is shown that information and information processes have become significant factors of pedagogical activity, while the electronic textbook functions as a specialized teaching tool adapted to various types of students’ learning activities. The paper emphasizes the necessity of structuring educational material into functional blocks, including lectures, laboratory work, tests, and self-assessment tasks. Particular attention is paid to the multimedia capabilities of electronic textbooks, such as animation, video, and interactive components, which increase clarity and improve learning outcomes. The main advantages of electronic textbooks are identified as interface adaptation to the individual needs of the learner, the use of additional means of perception and memorization, convenient navigation based on hyperlinks, built-in knowledge control, and the possibility of presenting material according to the student’s level of preparation. The article also considers limitations associated with the need for special technical equipment and increased fatigue when working with a screen. A classification of tools for developing electronic textbooks is presented, including traditional algorithmic languages, general-purpose authoring tools, multimedia tools, hypertext, and hypermedia tools. It is concluded that the development and use of electronic textbooks is one of the significant directions for improving the quality of education and contributes to the formation of students’ lifelong learning skills and professional self-development.
