Abstract

The authors propose alternative ways to expand the individual educational trajectory of a learner, taking into account the capabilities of basic and additional professional education. The article examines current problems in the modernization of the system of continuing professional education under conditions of rapid technological development and digitalization of society. The contradiction between the need for rapid updating of specialists’ competencies and the inertia of traditional educational standards is analyzed. It is noted that the short life cycle of modern technologies requires new approaches to the formation of qualification requirements. Particular attention is paid to additional professional education as a flexible mechanism that makes it possible to respond promptly to employers’ requests and compensate for the lack of practical skills among graduates. The potential of WorldSkills Russia standards is considered as a guideline for updating educational programs and bringing the labor sphere closer to the personnel training system. The necessity of improving mechanisms for developing professional standards, reducing bureaucratic burden in updating educational documentation, and strengthening interaction between educational institutions and business is substantiated. It is concluded that the integration of basic and additional education is a promising means of increasing graduates’ competitiveness, their adaptability to changing labor market conditions, and the development of competencies required in the digital economy.
