A MODEL FOR PREPARING PARTICIPANTS OF A VOCATIONAL SKILLS CHAMPIONSHIP IN THE “NETWORK AND SYSTEM ADMINISTRATION” SKILL
Abstract
Introduction. Vocational skills championships serve as an external assessment of professional competencies in secondary vocational education. In the reviewed sample, models of competitor preparation with justified links between decisions and measurable indicators were not found. The literature review is not systematic, and the novelty claim is limited to 16 works. Aim. To build and justify a model for preparing championship participants in the “Network and System Administration” skill.
Materials and Methods. A retrospective generalisation of teaching practice at one college in 2023–2026; analysis of regional championship protocols, with at least 10 participants at each stage; description of the college’s position within each stage by the ratio of the college score to the best competitor score, without comparing results across years; and systematisation of the mentor’s decisions. Results. The model combines eight methodological decisions into three contours: reserve, staff and competitive readiness. An institutional condition is identified: competencies confirmed at the championship are recognised in the educational process. Each decision has a defined indicator, calculation and preliminary expert benchmark. The college took 2nd, 3rd, 1st and 1st places at the regional stages of 2023–2026.
Discussion and Conclusions. The model is consistent with evidence on deliberate practice and expert mentoring in the development of vocational excellence. A causal link between the model and the results has not been established because the data come from one college without a control group.
